DUCALM SKINCARE WAS BORN OUT OF MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

As an athlete and a person with sensitive and reactive skin, I am conscious of using non-toxic and natural ingredients, but also the need for ingredient synergy. I craved simplicity, fewer products, and efficacy. I like to go makeup free so I like to have balanced, even skin. I also happen to be an avid multi-studio per day/week fitness addict.

I wanted the best multitasking product that I could carry with me at all times and use on the go. I am a product developer and home skincare maker, so I worked alongside Dr. Stone to create the products’ feel, performance and usage. We sourced the right components to complement the experience. It needed to be easy to stick with everyday, because consistency matters.

Tall order? Not really. DUCALM Skincare gets you there.

HOW WE GOT HERE

As the customer, I conceived of my wish list for the perfect, gentle, multitasking regimen. I decided to take some classes making basic skincare products with my stepfather, Dr. Michael O. Stone, PhD, MD. I was a good candidate because I have reactive combination skin, t-zone oil, dryer cheeks, and larger pores. I also have sensitivities to many ingredients.

Michael used his biochemistry background to help me analyze ingredients that I reacted to and didn’t, and our path to DUCALM was born.

People’s skin reacts individually, so it was important to narrow down ingredients to those that work, yet are non-reactive.

We also wanted to educate the customer about how sweat works to protect your skin through the moisture barrier. You don’t want to strip the moisture barrier when cleansing and disrupt your microbiome. It makes your skin vulnerable to damage and infection.

We made and tested our own formulas together using effective, natural and nontoxic ingredients. Then we teamed up with some of the best industry professionals to bring this vision to life.

Since I started using DUCALM, my skin is consistently clear and even toned, never greasy. I carry my Actives Recovery Kit with me everywhere.

Our products are made from natural and naturally sourced, nontoxic ingredients. They have been Physician Formulated around the science of sweat and preserving the skin’s moisture barrier.

We are unscented and paraben, phthalate, and sulfate free. The difference is clear - we do not use any colorants or perfumes. It’s a purity you can see.

I am Dr. Michael O. Stone, PhD, MD of 40 years experience and this is DUCALM Skincare.

We have gone back to basics with naturally occurring substances and essences that are known to be neutral or calming to the multi-layers of our skin. Our products contain natural emollients, antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory. They have soothing organic compounds that are gently emulsified for ease of application and for excellent absorption.

Your skin is actually an organ, the largest one of all. It is made up of many layers, each containing various glands, nerves, and blood vessels. Sebaceous (oil) glands produce the fatty acids that help to lubricate our skin and form part of the water barrier of the skin. The sweat glands, along with the skin blood circulation help to regulate body temperature. These functions are all important to overall health, but are impacted on a continuous basis by some combination of activity, sun exposure, trauma, aging, illness, improper diet, smoking, and excessive alcohol, depending on the person and their environment.

Doctors are careful to try to avoid poly-pharmacy when RX’ing for their patients because of the risk of bad reactions among the drugs. However in some instances there is synergy between substances that permits the use of fewer and smaller numbers and amounts of each compound. This has been our successful approach to skin care.

Some producers of products occasionally use borderline science, and in some cases, scare tactics in an attempt to sell their products. We make no claims that you can’t prove yourself by trying our skin care products. In fact, it is likely that our products can be used along with your previous ones, reserving ours for simple daily cleansing and for after exercise to enhance your skin’s recovery and calmness. They are great daily use products.
